Portrait Drawing – Kate

Thinking about the composition of a drawing, what do you think makes an interesting portrait?

I have been pleasantly surprised at the results of doing the quick 2-minute studies at the beginning of a portrait sitting, finding the need to focus deeper on the face and shape of the head with more accuracy, to draw what I see, not what I think. It’s been an interesting and challenging change from drawing a full figure.
